Lisbon Half Marathon

The Lisbon Half Marathon arose from the will of a small group of people who wanted to see Lisbon’s Ponte 25 de Abril crossed by athletes and general public, to discover and enjoy totally different cityscapes which are usually monopolised by automobiles. This was a huge challenge back in 1991.

It was at a restaurant table, looking at the big bridge with its impressive steel structure and giant pillars plunging into the Tagus, that the idea popped into the head of Carlos Móia.
The most emblematic symbol of the marathon is the crossing of the Ponte 25 de Abril.
Winning the Gold Road Race title confirms that the Lisbon Half Marathon is one of the most attractive marathons in the world.
Today Silvestre Festas is proud to contribute by providing our services to such a mediatised event.
